The Federation is the national association [Guild] of nearly 30 prominent black smiths and hot forge shops. Well networked to each other, and who are India's best known manufacturers / exporters of wrought iron systems and ornamental iron fabrications and wrought iron components from India.

Every member of our guild has over 15 years experience in the rodiron line and is equipped with wrought iron machines from Germany. or computerised iron machines made in India under technical arrangements with European manufacturers.

. CAUTION Warning: Unfortunately several foreign buyers of wrought iron have been duped by "Fly-By-Night" India traders (without any manufacturing facilities). Who quote absurdly low prices and then either vanish with your money or ship apallingly poor quality goods. These persons are generally based in the small towns of India like Ludhiana. Jalandhar (Jullundur). Agra, Meerut, Jodhpur, Jaipur etc. These FBN-traders can be easily spotted because they deal in every iron products under the sun. like handicrafts, scaffoldings, bicycle and tractor parts, hand-tools, forgings, brass castings, etc. AND ARE VERY PROMPT IN CORRESPONDENCE ! You will not find any such traders on our Federation's rolls

Honesty Not all our members (being otherwise excellent craftsmen and jolly good chaps generally) are fluent in English or the other foreign languages and "replying promptly" is an equally foreign concept to some of them. If you are a blacksmith yourself or in the black iron line our members would be delighted to interact with you.

the early use of iron as building material metals application to buildings began as an essential decorative or practical role rather than structural iron nails hinges and other necessary components were the most common forms but lead and copper were also used for roof coverings more skilled use of iron was made in the provision of decorative elements of buildings but the strutural use of iron only began in the late 18th century with english iron master blacksmith abraham darby first iron bridge made entirely of wrought iron arches and ribs cast in a foundry and transported to the building site for assembly although this advertised irons remarkable architectural capabilities few architects designed buildings constructed entirely of this material transporting and erecting large cast iron sections was both expensive and labourious smaller items such as solid or hollow iron columns did find widespread application from then onwards their use reduced the need for heavy load bearing internal walls or masonry piers and could be assembled quickly by unskilled labour however even when it was used it was common for the iron work to be concealed by other traditional materials in textile mills of the early 19th century the use of iron beams and columns made it possible to increase the useful floor area although the exterior walls of the building were constructed in brick or stone masonry the use of non combustible iron in the interior also reduced the threat of fire making it popular for a wide variety of new builings in the 18th century
